At the Center for Advanced Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry, Dr. Nelson Y. Howard is a highly trained and experienced dentist who can renew, restore, and repair your oral health—and your smile! We welcome all new patients to our two convenient locations: San Marcos and Rancho Bernardo.

At your first appointment, our team will meet with you at length and discuss your reasons for visiting our dental practices. Dr. Howard will:

• Perform a personal and in-depth consultation
• Take a baseline blood pressure reading
• Examine oral and periodontal tissues, as well as TMJ
• Show you any intraoral camera pictures if desired
• Provide you with treatment options and recommendations

Progressive Dentistry

The Center for Advanced Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry believes in progressive, modern dental techniques and products. Dr. Howard uses lasers for soft tissue, periodontal, canker sore, and cold sore treatments. Patients who make appointments at our San Marcos or Rancho Bernardo dental practices can opt for reminders sent via text and email.

Technology keeps us on the cutting edge of dentistry. We use digital X-rays, digital photography, and intraoral cameras to ensure you receive a state-of-the-art diagnosis. We also use infection measures following the guidelines of several federal agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These protocols include:

• We wear disposable masks and gloves.
• We utilize single-use products for those items that cannot be sterilized.
• We chemically disinfect all surfaces before new patients enter our treatment rooms (operatories).
• We sanitize instruments with a high-frequency ultrasonic cleaner, followed by sterilization via high heat and pressurized steam. These items are then placed in dated sterile bags until it is time for use.
• We have our sterilizers tested weekly by outside services to insure they continue to meet our high standards for sterilization.

We accept most dental health insurance plans at both of our locations in Rancho Bernardo and San Marcos. We will file claims on your behalf. We ask that you be prepared to pay your co-pay and/or deductible at time of services rendered. Your insurance can be a big help in getting the care you need and we will help to assure that you receive the maximum benefits possible. However, the contract between your employer and the insurance company will not affect your responsibility for full payment of any fees. If your insurance doesn’t pay what we expect, then you are responsible for any balance.
